I feel embarrassed about my appearance and don't do normal activities such as swimming or going to a beauty salon. My son is getting married on Maui, and I am dreading what to do with my hair. In addition, the gene has passed on to my daughter, and I feel so guilty about seeing her endure the same pain.

About Me: I started hair loss after going into puberty around age 15. I am a latina with brown skin and had beautiful long hair as a child. After the hair loss, I felt there was nothing attractive about me and have suffered from low self esteem ever since.

Hey Elena,
Welcome to the Network! This is a wonderful place to find other women who are experiencing the same emotions and problems that you are. We are all so similarly effected by how our hair loss has changed us. I also have a daughter who is beginning to experience some heavy shedding, and it breaks my heart more than my own hair loss to see her go through this.
