Thanks for that info. I am hoping I will be lucky too and not notice so much shedding from the minoxidil. I must say, it is a bit of a pain though. I have to use it twice a day and try to leave about 12 hours between applications. Still, I am getting used to it.
Take care.

Hi Helen,
My hair first started shedding in May of this year. When I would run my fingers through my hair I would come out with about 5 hairs each time,. It was hard to count how many hairs I would loose when I washed it at that time , because it would be all in a clump if you know what I mean? But, I can tell you this it was a LOT!!! I shedd like that from May to about the end of July. Really heavy shedding. enough that I lost half the volume of hair in that little time.

I was scared to death to wash my hair I would actually get sick.. But, I learned from the great women on this site ,that, The hair i lost from washing it was going to come out any way. So, I became more comfortable with washing my hair every other day to keep the scalp clean. I also learned to use ACV as a rince each time I washed it and it stopped the scalp itching for me.

Now as long as I wash it every other day, My shedding is any where fron 5 to 15 a day. but, if I don't wash it every other day, I start to itch and i Loose a lot more .

Good Luck
Sissy

Hi Helen, I just saw the comment you left on my pic yesterday.. You are soo sweet! thanx so much! The funny thing is I only started get all crazy into fitness after my hair loss, I figured well I can't do anything about my hair so maybe I get get my body in good enough shape so that people will look at that instead of my head! :)-

Thanks again,
~Y

I know what you mean...I just cringe sometimes when i think about people noticing, but I, as well as you, have stopped placing such emphasis on that...because there is soo much more than GOOD HAIR...because you definitely have a winning smile that..Im sure distracts the focus from your locks.

I would think I would be able to do that. Depending on the how much hair loss you have had and where it is, I may be able to help you. The best things for you to do would be to e-mail me pictures of your hair. I need a straight on shot, a side shop, top of the head as well as a back of the head shot. NO one will see these but me.

I am starting to have more request like this so I have set up a new and private e-mail just for us girls. The e-mail address is hairlossmisty@gmail.com

I hope I can help you. I will do everything I can. We are learning together.

Hi Helen,
Everyone tells me repeatedly that it's normal to lose 50-100 hairs per day. When I wash my hair, I know I've lost that amount before I even leave the house in the morning! Everyone knows what's normal for them, so if we think we're losing more hair- we are. I too have stopped blow drying my hair (except for my bangs), and my hair looks dry and messy. I actually wish that ,on humid days like today, I had little frizzy hairs sticking up. That would at least indicate some hair regrowth!
Good luck,
Vicki

Hello Helen
Just to say your new profile photo looks great. Also I wondered how long you had been on minoxidil 6% and whether you had experienced any initial increased hair loss due to it, as I am on minox 4% and I was told that I would initially lose hair before new hair began to grow through. I have been usung it for about 5 weeks. It was quite a roller coaster of emotions deciding whether to start the minox or not but in the end I felt I had no choice. I noticed that you also use Dianette and I wondered what that was? x
