How has your hair loss changed you?:
Completely! I used to be a more out-going person. I loved to go the hair salon every week and I LOVED to swim. Needless to say, I do neither anymore. So, yes, it has really effected my self-image, self- confidence, self-everything. BUT, I am trying so hard to get it together and not let my hairloss ruin my entire life. The last two years have been hell for me, so I am putting my trust in God that things will get better and one day I will wake up and have a beautiful head of hair. I now realize that it is in God's hands. I just hope I can help him by finding a treatment that actually works!
About Me
About Me:
Last March of 2007, I was finishing my Master's Degree when I decided I would start taking the diet pill Relacore. Not knowing or realizing what the side-effects were, by the end of May, my hair started shedding like crazy. I looked at the Relacore bottle and saw that a possible side-effect was hairloss. I even went on-line and did some research and found several other people who experienced the same hairloss just from taking this diet pill. I get so angry at myself because for the better part of my life I have always been so obsessed with my weight that I would take anything. AND, now my obsession has taken away one of the things I have always cherished the most about myself. (MY HAIR) I was diagnosed with Telogen Effluvium in September of 07 after months of trying to correct the problem myself. I was told by my dematologist that the diet pill did indeed cause the condition and that I would have to wait it out for 6 months to a year. It has now been over a year and the shedding is still happening. Maybe not as worse as it was before, but it is still going strong. I am trying and I have tried everything and I am just hoping that I can wake up one day and there will be no more hairloss.
