How has your hair loss changed you?:

I look very different. This is the new me, and I refuse to cover up, hide who I am, or be physically uncomfortable. In the 2 years I've been going out bald, I've become MORE self confident. I care much less than I used to what other people think of me.

About Me

About Me:
|
I shaved my head in Jan. 08 when the bald areas got too big to hide. It was a good decision because it gave me control of the situation and I no longer had to get sad every day as more hair fell out. I lost all the rest of my hair within 4 months, and now have tattooed eyebrows and eyeliner. I never wear a wig...way too hot for me. I go out bald or in a scarf if I need warmth. I teach a weekly dance class bald, and wherever I am, if I get hot, whatever is on my head comes off. My two mottos are: "Life is too short to wear a wig", and (to other people) "Yes, I'm bald...get over it!"
I started the National Bald Outâ„¢ in 2009 to encourage women (and others) who have AA to go OUT in public. Baldness for women won't become an option until WE make it happen by letting people see that not every bald woman has cancer. More information is at AlopeciaWorld.com. Please join The National Bald Out Group there, and organize an event whereever you live!
