What Caused The Onset Of Your Hair Loss?:
How has your hair loss changed you?:
I had become very depressed and isolated. I started eating a lot and gained a great deal of weight.

I shaved my head and started the study of wigs and hair loss. I thought if I could better understand the whys and the how I might be able to help others as well as myself.

It has been a year since I had shaved my head and I have learned a great deal. What amazes me the most is how many wretched hair loss studios there are (NOT THAT THERE ARE NOT PLENTY OF WONDERFUL ONES). So many of them haven't lost their hair so they can't understand the frustration and pain it can cause. So many of the solutions they offer just don't work.

My hair has began growing back. It is about a half inch long. It is very grey so to be able to see it better I colored my hair. It helped at first. It has grown a bit more since then and the signs of female pattern baldness are staring me in the face once again.

I managed to find some wonderful prosthetic wigs that are great if you have no hair. I could swim, sleep, take a shower and so on, just like a normal person. I had fun trying many styles. My natural hair takes forever to grow. In a year it may grow 4" if I didn't cut it. Normal growth is a half inch a month.

The worst thing about all of this, which is why I did the study, is that I am a Hair Stylist in a very nice spa. Everything is about image and making people beautiful.

Now I'm in a mess with all the extra weight and hardly any hair. Top it off with a little depression and you have someone who is not very marketable. By the way, I do where my wigs to work.

All of this to say... I AM CHANGING MY ATTATUDE. I'M GOING TO HELP OTHER WOMEN TO BECOME BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT. I HAVE STARTED HELPING WOMEN WITH HAIR LOSS. HELPING OTHERS IS HELPING ME TO BECOME THE BEAUTIFUL PERSON GOD MADE ME.

Update:
I stared growing my hair back about 3 months ago and see that my hair is worse yet, as far as the thinning through the top and sides. The texture is brittle. Every time I see myself in the mirror I want to cry.

The reason I stared growing my hair out was so I could better help women that have hair that is thin or growing back from chemo. I have been bound and determined to find better solutions that are comfortable as far as wigs mainly. I have gone through a few $1000.00 on wigs that have been a nightmare. I am finally beginning to find some that are very nice.

For the women that have are going through chemo and are loosing their hair, I have found human hair wigs to be to difficult to deal with. When your sick the last thing you want to deal with is your hair.

About Me
About Me:
WHO I AM:

I'm originally from CA. LA area. I lived in
Santa Monaca and worked in Beverly Hills. It's nice but I am so glad to be in Alabama.

I have been a Hair Stylist for 24 years. WOW!! I’m getting old…. Uuuuuggggg. Anyway, I have loved working with women with all of there hair needs. I am also a certified Medical Esthetician. I enjoy doing skin care and makeup, but hair is my passion. So after a few years of adding skin care to my line of work, I gave that up and began focusing on hair.

The first time I lost my hair, about 14years ago, I knew nothing about wigs. A few years later I saw a great need for women that had been losing their hair, whether by thinning or by large amounts. I realized I was not alone in not knowing what to do about a wig. I was clueless and so were most of my clients who were asking me for help.

That is the quick story of what got me into the Hair Replacement. I love helping other women. Finding this site has been a Godsend to me. I need all of you, just as you may need me.

I love photography, all types of music, reading and research. My greatest love is helping other women.

I Love the Lord with all my heart. I'm so glad to have Jesus in my life. I don't know how I would get through all of this without him.

You can bond it around the face with a water soluble bond which is nice if you want the extra secrity with out keeping iit on over night. Or it can be bonded with a medical adhisive for lace. The hair can be cut to suit you. But it must be cut by someone who has a lot of experance cuting in wigs.

By the way I can't get them with my discount at this price. Execelent buy.:

A BLOG FROM WORRIED ( IT'S GREAT )

So I just got back from seeing my GP and he told me something that could interest a lot of you. As we all well know losing hair tends to make one anxious and depressed with little motivation to do anything. He says that when we do nothing, our body switches off in a sense because it's not doing anything that requires replenishment. This is why people that are depressed are tired all the time. His advice is to GET ACTIVE - to do some sort of physical exercise about 6 times a week. He also says that it is good to get as much sleep as you need (at least 7-8 hours). If not, the body won't replenish cells, etc. including hair cells!!!

So get active and get tired!!! :)

NEW LIFE HAIR: - NEW INFORMAION ON A VACUUM WIG. THE COST IS $4000.00 AND WILL LAST FOR 4-5 YEARS.

Wow! This looks great. It is a vaccum system so you need not adhesive to get it to stay on and you can enjoy a normal life.

I'm not sure if you can have any hair though. I'm waiting on all the info.

One of the other ladies told me about this site.

New info about a vacuum cap wig. ITS SOUNDS INCREDIBLE !!!!! I WANT ONE!!!! :)

I had a client ask me if the vacuum system become sweaty to the scalp also how does it breath? How long can you were it at a time? Can you sleep in it or do you have to take it off each night?
These are all great questions Misty! Let me explain...

The new, improved silicone cap used in our hairpieces is a great material in that its grip to the head is amazing; it is also super strong and will hold the implanted hair to the point where the hair will break first (strength tests have been done). It is also vapor-permeable (breathable) so that the mixture of body heat and perspiration coming off the head is vaporized through the silicone molecules. We don't have much in the way of sweat accumulation. In fact, this very rarely happens except when you are exposed to temps are in the 90's with humidity and/or you are seriously working out. Then the vaporization process can't keep up with the sweat production and some amount of sweat will accumulate inside the cap and possibly drip out at the nape area (like everybody else sweating in the gym). If desired, the cap and head can be tissued dry, but otherwise they will eventually dry on their own.
It is not hot in and of itself because it takes on the temperature of the body and molds to the head. It's just when the body is super hot that you notice your head sweating - a natural cooling mechanism. This is very subjective as well as some clients never notice sweat accumulation while others do. But in all cases, it is not an issue because the vacuum is not compromised, it remains comfortable and happens so rarely - not during the normal course of a day. One other thing is that our hair always stays dry even if our head is sweating because it is protected by the cap. A nice thing!

You can wear it all day/night long but we do not recommend sleeping in it because it will shorten the life span of the hair. Hair, we've learned, can act like a wire: if you bend it back and forth at one point enough, will just break off. So by removing it before bed, cleaning out the cap and placing it on a wig stand, you will enjoy your hair for many years. Some of my clients are getting 5 years or more out of their hairpieces! It is so comfortable that you forget you have it on, yet it is nice to clean the head and sleep au natural or with a cotton cap.

Hope that helps!
All my best,
Karen

INFO ABOUT REPRIVE:

Well the repeive is a systen that is put on the top of your head. Your own hair is weaved through it around the edges and sandwhiched together with a bonding tape. What this does is it give you a secure fit without damaging your hair. Reprieve is a floating system, which means it is not attached to the skin of you scalp. As you hair grows the system will loosen up a bit, but it will not come of nor will anyone eles be able to tell. You have it taken off, cleaned and your scalp is given a specail treatment and the system is reapplyed. I usually suggest getting 2 if you can. That way when it is time to change one you can go strait into the other without having to wait.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

1) With reprieve--is there any damage to the hair? I know they say there won't be--but I can't imagine that it doesn't affect the hair a little.

Misty - With my clients I have seen NO damage. I know it seems imposable but the secrete is the way it is put on. It is secured with your hair all the way around the peremiter of the system so there is no pressure on any peticule area such as clips can cause. With clips you just need to move them every 2-3 week.

2) Where should I go to find help with a boned lace system? I don't feel comfortable doing that on my own--do you know of any reputable salons in the Dallas area? also does the lace system affect the hair we have?

Misty- A lace system is the most natural looking and also the most delicate of all of the systems. It will not hurt your own hair. If your hair has any legth to it you would sweep it back into a little bun or use a wig net like a hair net to keep your hair back. If you go to the sight that I have about bohyme wigs, they are a lace front with and the girl that is modeling them is also the director of sales and education for Reprieve. Any way she has very thin hair but you cannot tell that is not her hair. Her hair is down just below her shoulders and red. The blond wig she is waring is a great way to see how it gives her a natural hair line.

As far a Boned Lace system, I'm not femiuar with that brand. Most important about lace for a women that still has her own hair is not to get a full lace system. You need some area of the wig that is strong and flexable. Lace is great around the peremiter.

3) Which wigs would you recommend as being the most natural looking?

Misty - If you need a full wig the Bohyme wig is fantastic. Amys presents is also great. Amys Presents will be the most sturdy because it does not have the same type of lace that the Bohyme wig has. I love my Amys Presents wigs. I think I like the human hair the best although Cyber hair is great because you never have to fix it. It holds its style and moves and feels like human hair.

AMYS PRESENCE WIGS:

I work with Amys Presence. It could run you any where from $1600.00 on a very low side to $3000.00 on the high side. I would avoid the synthetic in the long hair. It terrable when you where it. The short styes are not bad at all in the synthetic.

The Cyber hair is fantastic. It's also the most expencive. You get the best of both world with Cyber hair. Its feels simular to a medium thick strand of hair. It moves like naturl hair ,after it has been cut in properly, it can resist high heat tempetures with out changing. It is very sturdy. The other great thing is you don't have to style it. It holds its shape. The down side. Because it holds it's shape you can't change your style other than putting acceceris in your hair which is so pretty.

The Human hair is wonderful too. Your stylist can cut it and color it to your liking. You can scrunch it because it does have a body wave. Or you can flat iorn it to get the silky straigt look. The sky is the limets as far as styling your hair. But.... you do have to style it. It is just like your own natural growing hair.

I have found however that if you have very much of your own natural hair it is a little harder to work with. You can help it to stay down with a scarf or they have clipes that can be moved around that you can use. There is not a lot of room in the cap itself if you have a lot of hair that need to be put up.

One other way you can attach it is using a water soluble roll on bond (gule). It is easy to use and you can use it your self. It's easy to clean and holds well until you wet your hair a lot. Or spray with a lot of water around the edges where you have the bond.

CLOTHING AND MAKE-UP, WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT CAN MAKE.

Finding clothes that make you feel and look your best. It's great going to a really good make-up artist that realy understand coloring and the placement of it. You can't go wrong with a little make up to make you feel beautiful. Excesorize your clothes and adorn your self with jewlery. Also if you can have someone do color analisis on you or buy "Color Me Beautiful" Wow, can the right color change you life and sofen you look.
In fact the line of your clothing can do wonders if it is right for you. Learn your body type. Find out what is best for you so that you can show off all of your best asets. Again "Color me Beautiful" has all of this in it. It's a great book.

WIG OPTIONS:

There are several opptions, there is a new system out now that works with the top, front and crown of your head so that you can blend your hair with the sytem. The neat thing about this is you do not have to shave a section of your hair , like so many systems need you to do, so that you can bond (glue) the hair to your scap but instead the concept is like having your hair higlighted with a fosting cap where you pull small amounts of hair through the edge of the system and it has a way of sandwiching your hair to the systems hair.

You can go and look at their web sight at www.reprievehair.com. They have pictures. It may help you to see it better.

I have a few clients that I use this for them. They love it. You can ware it 4-6 wks at a time so its like having your own hair. It is called a floting system since it is not bonded to your head.

As far as a wig, that's a little tougher. I have no hair in all the photes on my sight. All of these systems are bonded to my head. Because of that you can not tell they are a wig even up close. I am able to keep them on up to 2 weeks at a time. People that do not have growing hair can where it much longer. You can shampo and style just like you would your own hair. Because it has been bonded it when you pull on it it feels like hair growing from your scalp because it is pulling your scalp.

I have recently started growing my hair back..... uuuuuggggg. I must say it is depressing after wareing these wonderful wig. So my search for better quality wigs has been quite a chalange for women with growing hair. Revelon has some nice wigs that are not to expensive. Look at there simply beautiful line. That is a good line for people that have lost a lost a lot of hair or they have lost all of there hair. Make sure to measure your head though. Unlike an everyday wig they do not have a lot of extra room in the crown of the wig if you have a lot of hair that needs to be pulled up.

In the other part of revelons line I would go for wigs that have a monofilement top. Each wig will give you a discription. They should have an area on the web site that can tell you how to measure your head. I'm not sure what there web site www.theheadshoponline.com. This sight is ok for showing you a wide veriety of wigs including revlon simply beautiful. I could not find a place to tell you how to measure you head though. I will draw a picture and put it on my sight to show you how to measure. I may not get it done today. But I will get to it as soon as possable.

The bigest thing you need to do when mesuring your head is to measure the circumfrance of your head. Place the tap measure around your hair line above your ears. If you are 22" you are average. If you are smaller you will be average - pettie or larger average to large.

I guess I wrote you a book. Sorry about that. I have spent so much money and time trying to find soultions that really perform the way they say they will, I guess you could say it has become a passion for me.

I know I go a little over board with information, but I do hope it will help. I look forward to getting to know you.

TOGETHER WE CAN HELP EACH OTHER !!!!!!
