I have allowed the hair loss make me feel insecure, depressed, not confident. I find myselft often wanting to be alone. I guess in hiding. I wear a wig everyday and when I take it off I am face with the truth. I am trying to understand that not having my hair does not mean that is not me.
About Me
About Me:

I am going through some rough times now, first lost my hair, I have a thyroid condition among other things. I do read self help books. I am reading The New Earth by Eckart Tolle. I love it. I love Oprah as well. My spirituality is strong and I believe I will get through this.
HI Sofia, Glad you joined the site. Many times I will read something on here where someone is talking about their feelings and thoughts, and I'll think, "wow, that's exactly how I feel too." This is a great place because the ladies here really do understand. Take care, Beth
Hey Sofia, Welcome to the Network! There are many amazing women here with Alopecia Areata, as well as Alopecia Totalis. The support here is great and the women here are phenomenal! Blessings, Dottie
Hi Sophia, Welcome to this wonderful community of special women. I also have alopecia areata, I have had it for about 6 years. I believe that with your strong spirit you will find comfort within yourself and with your hair. It is a journey. Glad you found this site. Lisa
Hi Sofia, Welcome To The Network! Eckart Tolle... Tracy and Chari recommended his book "The Power of Now" You probably already know since you are an oprah fan, but he also currently does lectures on Oprah on Monday nights Online.
Regarding Hair Club For Men, I would have to probably say they would not be a good choice for women losing their hair. I've heard a few horror stories of women who have used "chain" hair replacement clinics that lock you into a contract. This is a good story to read: http://www.womenshairlossproject.com/hair-loss/dee s-hair-loss-story/
Fortunately you are from a big city, so your options will be quite vast, but I realize it still is difficult to find that special place. I was recommended a salon in New York City, I'll look it up and let you know where it is.
You'll find lots of support here, I noticed you signed up for the chat, I look forward to seeing you there.
