What Caused The Onset Of Your Hair Loss?:
How has your hair loss changed you?:
Turning 35 in 2009 and feeling young but dealing with wrinkles and thinning hair was depressing. My hair loss got me down before but bothered me so much more as I started to deal with looking older than I felt. After my journey of wearing multiple different wigs, cutting my hair short, shaving my head in January 2010 and now watching my hair grow back in.....I have a new appreciation for my own hair. As far as how it has changed me: I guess I can say that I now spend a lot less time doing my hair than I used to. That's part of what was getting me down with my hair loss, spending so much time getting it to look presentable. Now, as a result of shaving and having it grow back in, I've found a length that works for me and is actually easy to maintain. I'm so excited by this. I can always pop on a wig if I want to look glamorous :) In high school, before my hair was thinning, I was always messing with my hair and could never get it to look "perfect". Even though I had great hair, I still didn't like it and didn't like what I saw in the mirror. Now, I don't worry as much about my hair. I have a no-nonsense haircut and I love it. Before I had a chance to try out wigs, I felt like I had short hair because it was the only way to hide my hair loss. Now I choose the short hair because I like the way I look. If I change my mind, I can always go back to the wigs again :)
About Me
About Me:
I have two children, ages 7 and 3. I adore them and have just recently started to accept that my baby years are over, after trying unsuccessfully for almost 2 years to get pregnant again. I feel sad still about it, but feel like I can be happy with the two wonderful children that I have. I've really never liked my hair even before it started thinning, it was never very thick. It started really thinning on top and showing my scalp in my 20's. This site has been so helpful for me as I decided to take the next step and start wearing wigs. I feel like I've come a long way since I joined on here and have now reached a point of acceptance :)
