Hey ladies!
This is what happened tonight at my work... I pay my bills by working in a restaurant as a waitress. It was quite busy tonight and there was a family of seven sitting at the corner table. They finished their mains and as I was clearing their table they were passing each other a camera and showing some pictures .Suddenly I heard 'look! it's growing back!' said one of the guys. The other one answered ' yeah...like seventeen of them nt a big deal' . So I went to get more empty glasses and happened to see the snaps. From the conversation I figured out that he suffered from alopecia aretata. They were all cracking jokes about it. His dad said, well if any more will fall out than you might go for the 'bad boy bald look' . They AA- guy snapped 'yeah the best will be when my eyebrows will fall out and will look like I had cancer' . One of the ladies at the table added ' at least you'll get ladies attention' And they went on and on and on.
Sooo... as they were showing pictures and discussing it I take this was quite a big deal for this guy. It just made me think... we might not feel very feminine with thinning hair , or bald spots. Some of us are affected by AA and loose body/ facial hair as well as the sculp one. But what about men? Perhaps they're not as bothered as us about the pattern baldness ,because is far more socially acceptable for males but AA must be just as shocking and depressing for them as it is for women. It takes everyone equally by surprise ...They must feel just as self conscious and vulnerable to people's comments as women?
Just a thought...
Wish you all a good weekend!
